Can't see Cookie bar settings
Open

I have installed the Cookie Bar plugin on a development site (currently in a subfolder of an unrelated site). When I try to open the plugin "System-Web357 Cookies Policy Notification Bar" in the admin backend, I see a blank white screen. Turning error reporting to maximum, I see :

Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 23068672) (tried to allocate 311296 bytes) in /home/sites/openphotographicsociety.org/public_html/jadance/libraries/loader.php on line 260

As a consequence, I cannot access the cookie bar's settings page. The cookies bar displays on the site but without the "Settings" button.

    Comments would be appreciated.

    Hello Rod,

    Thank you for your message.

It seems that something goes wrong with the PHP memory limit on your server.

Could you increase the value of “memory_limit” in the php.ini?

Also, what is your Joomla version?

Thanks for your reply. I am running Joomla 3.9.1 with PHP 7.2. This site is running in a subfolder of an unrelated Joomla site. When I install the cookie plugin on the main site (www.openphotographicsociety.org) I am able to access the settings OK, but the "Settings" button is still not displayed. However, when I install the plugin on the development site (jadance.co.uk in the subfolder "jadance" of the main site), I cannot access the settings  - I just get a white screen when trying to open the plugin. Also, the settings button is not displayed.

I cannot locate php.ini. The path given in System Information/PHP information is /etc/php72.ini/php.ini but I cannot find this location.

    Thanks for the details, Rod.

Could you provide me access (JOOMLA+FTP) details to take a look in the plugin settings, please?

What is the link for the backend?

    This doesn't work http://openphotographicsociety.org/administrator/

OK, you need to use http://openphotographicsociety.org/jadance/ to access the site in the subfolder. Sorry, I obviously didn't explain clearly.

I have made a significant discovery regarding this "Out of memory" error problem. The site is using PHP7.2, but if I change back to PHP7.1 then the problem disappears and the setting plugin works normally.

While this is clearly a key piece of information, it is beyond me to establish what problem PHP7.2 causes.

    Hello Rod,

    Thanks for letting me know.

I've just installed the plugin in a new clean joomla installation with PHP Version 7.2.13.

Everything is working fine. Could you try to install the plugin on another joomla installation with same PHP version? Maybe something conflicts with another plugin.

    Thanks for your reply.

The site with which I am experiencing a problem is installed within a subfolder of another unrelated site - the "parent site" (openphotographicsociety.org) - which uses the same version of Joomla (3.9.1) and has countless (too many!) extensions.

I have installed the plugin on the "parent" site and it works correctly with PHP 7.2 or PHP 7.1 - no problem opening the settings plugin. However on the subfolder site (jadance.co.uk), the settings plugin will not open (white screen or, with error reporting at maximum, the same "Out of memory" error previously reported). If I change to PHP 7.1. everything works normally on both the "parent" site and the subfolder site.

I have also disabled every installed extension plugin and module on the subfolder site, but the problem of the "Out of memory" error remains.

    Hello Rod,

As I have seen at your website here http://openphotographicsociety.org/jadance/administrator, you are using the Akeeba backup.

I suggest this. I will create a backup and I will restore the backup on my local Joomla installation with PHP 7.2.x so I will be able to make some tests.

So the question is: Can I download your entire website using Akeeba Backup on my local machine for tests?
